Speed runs in the rain. Light rain at least. Today’s run consisted of a regular ten minute run then 2 minutes fast and 2 minutes regular twice and then ending with 8 minutes of steady and slightly faster than regular pace. The goal is to increase the distance with shorter run times. All this running is definitely paying off. We’ve shaved almost 2 minutes off our min/km ratio. It won’t be long before we can do 5k’s in less than 30 minutes. Can hardly wait! In the meantime we’ll keep training. I’ll be signing up for an official 5k race to run on Thanksgiving very soon.

Ran exactly 30 minutes today. It wasn’t a difficult run but K had trouble finding her rhythm so we didn’t quite cover the distance we thought we would. That’s ok. Next run concentrates on speed work using our regular neighborhood route.
Weighed in at 193.8 this morning which means I have lost 20 pounds since the end of August. Sweet!

We were supposed to run day 3 on Saturday but the weather was just awful all day and most of Sunday. By the time it finally cleared up it was Sunday night. Cold and windy but we got out there and ran. Didn’t really plan on running a 5k since the program only calls for a 30 minute run. However, when 30 minutes rolled around we still had plenty of energy and decided to go for it. Woot! 41 minutes. Only shaved a minute off our previous time but the course has more hill running that slows us down. Tomorrow we start week 2 and plan to run 30 minutes instead of the program’s 20. Twenty just seems too short!
